Baby Name Generator (Hebrew)

Biblical and modern Hebrew names with meanings

Ad placeholder (leaderboard)

Hebrew names carry thousands of years of scripture, prayer, and the living language of modern Israel. This tool draws on both the Biblical tradition and contemporary Israeli usage, and pairs every name with its literal meaning.

How it works

Each name is tagged by gender and stored with its meaning and origin. When you choose a gender and generate, the tool filters to matching names, shuffles them with an unbiased Fisher–Yates pass, and shows your requested count. Hebrew names are typically meaning-rich: Daniel is “God is my judge”, Noah means “rest and comfort”, and the ending in Eliyahu points to the name of God.

Tips and notes

  • Biblical names — David, Sarah, Miriam — carry well-known stories worth reading before you commit.
  • Modern Israeli names often draw on nature and are frequently gender-neutral: Tal means “dew”, Lior means “my light”.
  • Many Hebrew names have English forms used worldwide: Yaakov as Jacob, Yosef as Joseph, Chana as Hannah.
