Spanish names span Castilian Spain, Latin America, and the Caribbean, blending saints, Marian devotions, and roots from Latin and the old Visigothic kingdoms. This tool draws on genuine Spanish naming traditions and pairs every name with its meaning.
How it works
Each name is tagged by gender and stored with its meaning and origin. When you choose a gender and generate, the tool filters to matching names, shuffles them with an unbiased Fisher–Yates pass, and shows your requested count. Spanish names often wear their meaning plainly: Sofía is “wisdom”, Esperanza is “hope”, and Salvador means “saviour”.
Tips and notes
- Marian devotional names — Pilar, Guadalupe, Dolores — honour titles of the Virgin Mary and are deeply traditional.
- A traditional full name carries two surnames, the father’s then the mother’s, after the given name you choose here.
- Compound names like José María or María José are common; the second name simply pairs with the first in everyday use.
