Generate custom binaural beats in your browser
This Binaural Beats Generator synthesises two pure sine tones — one in each ear — a few hertz apart. Your brain perceives the difference as a slow pulse, or beat. Everything is generated live in your browser with the Web Audio API, so nothing is streamed or downloaded and it keeps working offline.
Put on stereo headphones (the effect does not work over speakers), pick a preset or dial in your own beat frequency, adjust the carrier tone and volume to a comfortable level, and press Play. All three sliders update the sound in real time.
Understanding the controls
- Carrier frequency — the base pitch you actually hear, from 50 to 500 Hz. Lower carriers sound deeper; a value around 150–250 Hz is a comfortable default.
- Beat frequency — the difference between the two ears, and the pulse you perceive, from 1 to 40 Hz.
- Volume — keep it low; pure tones can feel loud, and quiet listening is kinder to your ears.
The frequency presets
The presets set the beat frequency to the classic EEG bands as a convenience: delta (~2 Hz), theta (~6 Hz), alpha (~10 Hz), beta (~20 Hz) and gamma (~40 Hz). They change the perceived pulse, not the pitch.
This is an audio utility, not a medical device, and the band names are labels only. People use binaural beats for focus, relaxation or winding down; results vary from person to person and it is not a substitute for professional advice.
