This calculator shows what a Columbus hotel stay really costs after the city’s lodging and occupancy taxes. It totals the tax across your nights so there are no surprises at checkout.
How it works
The combined occupancy tax is applied to the nightly room rate and multiplied by the number of nights:
tax_per_night = nightly_rate * 0.145
total_tax = tax_per_night * nights
grand_total = (nightly_rate * nights) + total_tax
The 14.5% combines the Columbus city lodging tax, the Franklin County lodging tax, and a convention facilities authority levy.
Example
A $140 room for 3 nights has a $420 room subtotal. At 14.5% the tax is about
$20.30 per night, or $60.90 total — a grand total near $480.90.
Notes
This is an estimate. The exact split between city, county, and convention levies can shift, and some properties add separately taxed fees. Confirm the breakdown on your folio at checkout.
