Discord Profile & Banner Size Tool

Get pixel-perfect Discord profile picture and banner dimensions.

Lookup tool that returns the exact pixel dimensions, safe-crop circles, and recommended export settings for Discord avatars, profile banners, server icons, server banners, invite splashes, and Discovery art.

What size should a Discord profile picture be?

Upload a Discord avatar at 1024 by 1024 pixels (minimum 128 by 128). Discord masks it to a circle and displays it small, from about 40 to 80 pixels, so keep your subject centred. Animated GIF avatars require Nitro.

This tool returns the exact upload dimensions and display crops for every Discord profile and server asset — avatars, profile banners, server icons, server banners, invite splashes, and Discovery art — so your images appear crisp and uncropped. It also flags circular crops, avatar overlap, and the Nitro or Boost level each asset requires.

How it works

Discord stores one master image per asset but renders it at very different sizes depending on where it appears. The tool lists the recommended upload resolution alongside how that asset displays, its crop shape, and the supported file formats. For avatars it notes the circular mask; for profile banners it flags the lower-left avatar overlap; for server assets it shows which Boost level unlocks each one.

Matching the recommended upload size avoids Discord upscaling a too-small image (which looks soft) or aggressively re-compressing an oversized one — and it keeps animated GIF assets within the Nitro and Boost requirements.

Tips and notes

  • Upload avatars and server icons square — Discord applies a circular or rounded mask, so corners are always trimmed.
  • Leave the lower-left of a profile banner clear; the circular avatar sits there.
  • Keep server-banner and invite-splash detail in the upper portion, away from the server-name overlay and the dark gradient Discord adds.
  • Animated GIF avatars, banners, and icons require Nitro or a Boosted server, so confirm your eligibility before exporting an animated file.
