Discord Video Length & Size Checker

Check your video fits Discord's clip and upload limits.

Enter a video's duration and file size and this tool tells you which Discord contexts it fits — message upload, Clips, soundboard, GIF — based on Discord's real duration and per-tier file-size limits for free, Nitro and boosted servers.

What is Discord's video upload size limit?

Without Nitro the per-file upload limit is 25 MB. Nitro Basic raises it to 50 MB and full Nitro to 500 MB. Server boost level can also raise a server's upload limit, so the effective cap is the higher of your plan and the server tier.

Discord video length & size checker

On Discord the question is usually not how long your video is but how big the file is — message uploads are gated by a size cap, while Clips and soundboard sounds add real duration limits. This checker takes your duration and file size and marks exactly which Discord contexts your clip qualifies for.

How it works

Discord enforces two kinds of limit. File-size caps apply to message uploads and scale by tier: 25 MB free, 50 MB Nitro Basic, 500 MB Nitro, plus server-boost raises. Duration caps apply to specific features: Clips up to 5 minutes, soundboard sounds about 5 seconds, and GIF-style autoplay best kept short. The tool checks your duration against each feature’s max and your file size against each tier, then marks every context as a pass or fail with the reason.

Tips & notes

  • Message uploads are limited by size, not length — bitrate matters more than minutes.
  • Discord Clips cap at 5 minutes; soundboard sounds at ~5 seconds.
  • To fit a free 25 MB upload, lower the resolution or bitrate rather than trimming.
  • The effective size cap is the higher of your Nitro tier and the server boost level.
