The Fort Worth Hotel & Occupancy Tax Calculator shows the true cost of a hotel stay after Fort Worth’s 15% occupancy tax. That total combines the 6% Texas state hotel tax with a 9% City of Fort Worth levy covering the municipal hotel tax plus venue and convention-center assessments. Enter your nightly rate and nights to see the grand total and all-in per-night price.
How it works
The tax applies to the pre-tax room subtotal, which is nightly rate x nights. Each component
is a flat percentage of that subtotal:
state tax = subtotal x 0.06
city tax = subtotal x 0.09
total tax = subtotal x 0.15
grand total = subtotal + total tax
The all-in per-night figure is nightly rate x 1.15, useful for comparing quotes that are shown
before tax.
Tips and example
- Compare pre-tax quotes carefully. A “cheaper” nightly rate can cost more after the flat 15% is added to both — always compare the all-in figure.
- Resort fees may add tax. This estimate covers the room only; mandatory fees can be taxed separately on your final folio.
- 30-plus-night stays. Texas exempts the state portion for stays of 30 consecutive days or more, lowering the effective rate for long-term guests.
Example: a $160 nightly rate for 3 nights is a $480 subtotal. Tax is $480 x 0.15 = $72
($28.80 state + $43.20 city), for a $552 grand total, or $184 all-in per night.
