Calculate Fresno minimum wage and overtime
Fresno follows California’s statewide minimum wage of $16.00 per hour — there is no separate city minimum. California also has some of the most worker-friendly overtime rules in the country, applying overtime on a daily basis as well as weekly. This calculator builds your weekly gross pay from your rate and schedule, and adds tips on top because California allows no tip credit.
How it works
The tool splits your hours into California’s overtime tiers and pays each at the correct multiplier:
hours 0-8 per day -> regular pay (1.0x)
hours 8-12 per day -> overtime (1.5x)
hours over 12/day -> double time (2.0x)
straight-time over 40/week -> moved to overtime (1.5x)
Daily tiers are computed first, then any straight-time hours beyond 40 in the week are shifted to the 1.5x overtime bucket so hours are never double-counted. Tips you enter are multiplied by total hours and added to gross pay, never used to offset the minimum wage.
Tips and example
At 16.00 per hour working 10 hours per day for 5 days, each day has 8 regular hours and 2 overtime hours. That is 40 regular hours at 16.00 (640.00) plus 10 overtime hours at 24.00 (240.00), for 880.00 gross that week. Push a day past 12 hours and those extra hours bill at 32.00 double time. Add tips per hour to see them stack on top, since California workers keep tips in full.
