Parking is one of the easy-to-overlook line items of living or working in Memphis, and the price swings sharply by district. This estimator uses neighborhood median rates to turn your parking habits into a clear daily, monthly, and annual figure — whether you commute downtown every day or only park for the occasional Grizzlies game.
How it works
Each district carries a median hourly rate, a daily maximum, and a monthly contract price. The tool picks the right basis for your mode:
commuter mode:
daily spend = daily max × parking days/month
monthly = min(daily spend, monthly contract)
annual = monthly × 12
event mode:
per visit = min(hourly × hours, daily max) × 1.75 (event surge)
monthly = per visit × visits/month
annual = monthly × 12
In commuter mode the calculator automatically chooses the cheaper of a monthly
contract or paying daily, which is exactly the trade-off most regular parkers
face. Event mode applies a 1.75× surge to reflect flat game-day and concert
pricing.
Tips
If you park more than about seven days a month in the same district, a monthly contract usually beats daily rates — the tool flags when that switch saves you money. For occasional events, look for validated parking from venues or restaurants, which can undercut the surge rates modeled here.
Notes
These are budgeting medians, not quotes. Specific garages, surface lots, and validation deals vary across Memphis, so confirm posted rates for your exact location.
