This calculator works out gross weekly pay for hourly workers in Milwaukee, using Wisconsin’s $7.25 per hour minimum wage. It splits your hours into regular and overtime, applies the 1.5x overtime multiplier above 40 hours, and checks the tipped cash-wage rule.
How it works
Hours up to 40 are paid at the regular rate; hours above 40 are paid at 1.5x:
regular_hours = min(hours, 40)
overtime_hours = max(hours - 40, 0)
gross = regular_hours * rate + overtime_hours * rate * 1.5
For tipped workers, the cash wage of $2.33/hr plus tips must reach the $7.25 minimum, or the employer owes the difference.
Example
A worker at $7.25/hr for 45 hours earns 40 * 7.25 = $290 regular plus
5 * 7.25 * 1.5 = $54.38 overtime, for $344.38 gross before taxes.
Notes
$7.25/hr is the Wisconsin statewide minimum and applies in Milwaukee — Wisconsin preempts local minimum-wage ordinances. The tipped cash wage is $2.33/hr, but total pay must still reach $7.25/hr after tips. This tool shows gross pay only, before withholding.
