Pinterest Image & Video Size Cheatsheet

Every Pinterest image and video dimension in one place

Quick-reference tool listing all official Pinterest image and video sizes and aspect ratios — standard Pins, Idea Pins, video Pins, board covers, and profile photos — with pixel-perfect dimensions and format requirements.

What is the best Pinterest Pin size?

The recommended standard Pin is 1000 by 1500 pixels, a 2:3 aspect ratio. This vertical shape fills the most feed space without being truncated. Pinterest accepts ratios from 2:3 up to roughly 1:2.1, but 2:3 is the safest default.

Pinterest is the most format-sensitive of the major platforms: a Pin that is the wrong aspect ratio gets cropped in the feed and loses reach instantly. This cheatsheet lists every official Pinterest image and video size and ratio in one place so you build on the right canvas the first time.

How it works

Each Pinterest content type has a recommended export size and aspect ratio. The tool stores the official figures and lets you copy any of them:

standard Pin = 1000 × 1500 (2:3)
idea / video = 1080 × 1920 (9:16)
square Pin = 1000 × 1000 (1:1)
board cover = 600 × 600 (1:1)
profile photo = 165 × 165 (1:1, circle-masked)

Aspect ratio is width ÷ height reduced to whole numbers; designing to the listed ratio is what stops the feed from cropping your Pin.

Tips and notes

Default to the 2:3, 1000 by 1500 standard Pin — it occupies the most vertical feed space without truncation and is what Pinterest’s own analytics favour. Reuse a single 9:16 export for both Idea Pins and video Pins. Keep text in the central 80 percent of any Pin so platform overlays and the saved-Pin chrome never cover it, and export at exactly the listed sizes or a clean 2x multiple to keep everything sharp on high-density screens.
