App Name Generator

Short, memorable names for your next mobile app

A good app name is short, easy to say, and hints at what the app does — and it has to survive the crowded App Store and Google Play listings. This tool generates mobile app names using three proven naming patterns, entirely in your browser.

How it works

Pick a pattern and a category, and the generator builds names accordingly:

  • Short coined word — a short prefix plus a short stem (for example Zobo, Kary). These are brandable and unlikely to clash, but carry no built-in meaning.
  • Compound — an adjective plus a category noun, such as SmartTask or SnapNote. This is the most common pattern in real listings because it hints at the function.
  • Action — a verb plus a category noun, such as TrackBudget or PlanFocus, which reads as a command and suits utility apps.

The category you choose swaps the noun bank: productivity pulls Task, Note, Focus; games pulls Quest, Arena, Loot; and so on. Names are de-duplicated within each batch.

Tips and example

  • Compound names are easiest to grasp at a glance — good when discoverability matters more than mystique.
  • Short coined names age well as a brand grows beyond a single feature.
  • Example output: productivity compound BrightBoard, finance action SaveWallet, games short Vira.

Always check store, trademark, and domain availability before you build a launch around a name.
