Mercenary Company Name Generator

Battle-hardened company names for hire

Ad placeholder (leaderboard)

A band of sellswords needs a name that signals both menace and reliability — the Crimson Lions, Vanguard Tactical Solutions. This free generator assembles mercenary company names from themed word banks of martial vocabulary, animal emblems, and fearsome epithets, in both fantasy and modern flavours. It is built for tabletop RPG game masters staffing contractors, wargamers, and military thriller writers.

How it works

Each name is assembled from slots drawn from a setting-specific word bank:

  1. An optional ordinal or emblem — “The 7th”, “The Crimson”, “The Iron”.
  2. An emblem noun — Lions, Drakes, Wolves, Ravens (fantasy) or a corporate-style word (modern).
  3. A martial noun — Company, Brigade, Free Company, Battalion (fantasy) or Solutions, Group, Tactical (modern).
  4. An optional epithet such as “of the Broken Oath”.

Selection is random across finite banks, so each press of Generate reshuffles every slot. The setting toggle swaps the entire vocabulary between medieval and contemporary tones.

Tips and notes

  • Beast emblems (Lions, Wolves, Drakes) read as proud and brutal; object emblems (Iron, Ash, Anvil) read as grim and disciplined.
  • Modern names that end in “Solutions” or “Group” mimic real private military contractor branding for a corporate-thriller feel.
  • An epithet like “of the Last Stand” gives a company instant backstory.
  • Everything runs locally with no API call, so reroll as many times as you like.
