Tampa minimum wage and overtime
Tampa uses Florida’s statewide minimum wage — there is no separate city rate. With a default of $13.00/hr and federal 1.5x overtime for hours beyond 40 in a week, this calculator shows your weekly and annual gross pay, including the Florida tipped-wage rules.
How it works
Regular pay covers up to 40 hours; everything beyond earns time-and-a-half:
regularHours = min(hours, 40)
overtimeHours = max(hours - 40, 0)
regularPay = regularHours * rate
overtimePay = overtimeHours * rate * 1.5
weeklyPay = regularPay + overtimePay
annualPay = weeklyPay * 52
For tipped workers, Florida allows a tip credit of $3.02/hr, so the required cash wage equals the minimum minus the credit. Tips must lift total earnings to at least the full minimum, or the employer must top up the difference.
Tips and example
At 13.00/hr for 45 hours: 40 regular hours pay 520.00, and 5 overtime hours at 19.50/hr add 97.50, for a 617.50 weekly gross — about 32110 annually.
For a tipped worker, the required cash wage is 13.00 - 3.02 = 9.98/hr. If tips plus that cash wage fall short of the full minimum across the workweek, the employer must make up the gap.
