How do I calculate a test grade?

Divide the number of correct answers by the total number of questions and multiply by 100. For example 22 correct out of 25 is 22 ÷ 25 × 100 = 88%.

The Test Grade Calculator is a fast EZ grader for teachers and a quick score-checker for students. Give it a test length and how many questions were missed and it returns the percentage and letter grade instantly — plus a full chart of the score for every possible number wrong.

Two ways to grade

  • Questions wrong — best for quizzes where each question is worth the same. Enter the total number of questions and how many were missed.
  • Points earned out of possible — best for tests with weighted questions. Enter the points scored and the maximum available.

The percentage behind the grade

The score is always correct ÷ total × 100. A 30-question quiz with 4 wrong is 26 ÷ 30 × 100 = 86.7%, a B. Because the exact percentage is shown alongside the letter, you can apply your own school’s cut-offs if they differ from the common scale.

The easy-grader chart

For tests up to 100 questions the tool prints a row for every number wrong, from zero up to the full total, showing the percentage and letter grade for each. It is the digital version of the cardboard grading wheels teachers have used for decades — no lookup table needed.
