X/Twitter Video Length Checker

Check your video duration fits every X/Twitter format.

Enter a video duration in minutes and seconds and this tool tells you which X/Twitter formats it qualifies for — standard post, Premium upload, promoted ad, and short loop — based on X's official minimum and maximum second limits.

How long can a video be on X/Twitter?

Standard accounts can upload videos up to 2 minutes 20 seconds (140 seconds). X Premium subscribers can upload videos up to 3 hours. Promoted ad videos can run up to 10 minutes. The minimum length for any upload is half a second.

X enforces hard limits on video duration that differ by account type and placement, and uploading something too long simply fails. This checker converts your minutes and seconds into total seconds and tells you, at a glance, which X formats your clip qualifies for.

How it works

Each X video surface has a minimum and maximum duration in seconds. The tool multiplies your minutes by 60, adds the seconds, then compares that total against every format’s range:

  • Standard post (free): 0.5 s to 140 s (2 min 20 s).
  • Verified / Premium upload: up to 3 hours.
  • Promoted / ad video: up to 10 minutes, with 6–15 s recommended.
  • GIF-style short loop: roughly 0.5–6 s for autoplay looping.

A green tick means your duration fits; a red cross tells you whether it is too short or too long for that surface.

Tips and example

A 45-second clip fits a standard post, an ad, and a Premium upload, but is too long for a looping GIF-style clip. For the strongest organic and paid performance, aim for 6 to 15 seconds, add burned-in captions for muted autoplay, and design the opening second to stop the scroll. If you need a longer cut, post it from an X Premium account, which lifts the limit to three hours.
