Parking is one of the biggest hidden costs of being in Washington DC, where central garages average around $275/mo and metered street rates climb to $2.30 an hour in peak demand zones. This free estimator uses neighborhood median rates to project your daily, monthly, and annual parking spend, including optional event-day surcharges.
How it works
The estimator supports two patterns:
- Hourly / metered —
cost = hourly_rate * hours_per_day, projected to monthly (* days_per_month) and annual (* 12). - Monthly garage — a flat monthly pass; daily equivalent is
monthly / days_per_monthand annual ismonthly * 12.
An optional event multiplier scales the per-session cost up for game-day or event surge pricing. Neighborhood selection sets the default hourly and monthly medians, which you can override.
Example
In Downtown DC at $2.30/hour for 8 hours a day across 20 days: daily is $18.40, monthly is $368, annual is $4,416. A $275 monthly pass would be cheaper for that pattern, costing $3,300 a year.
Notes
These are neighborhood medians that change with demand, operator, and time of day. Event surcharges near venues can double rates. Use the figures for planning and confirm specific garage prices. All math runs locally in your browser.
