How do I calculate win percentage?

Divide wins by the total number of games and multiply by 100. A record of 30 wins and 18 losses is 30 ÷ 48 × 100 = 62.5%.

The Win Percentage Calculator turns a win-loss record into a percentage. Enter wins, losses and any ties and it returns both the standard figure and the sports convention where a tie counts as half a win.

The standard method

Win percentage is wins divided by total games:

win % = wins ÷ (wins + losses + ties) × 100

A team that goes 30-18 has played 48 games, so its win percentage is 30 ÷ 48 × 100 = 62.5%.

Counting ties as half a win

Many leagues credit a tie as half a win so that a drawn game still contributes to the standings:

win % = (wins + ties ÷ 2) ÷ total games × 100

A 20-10-4 record scores (20 + 2) ÷ 34 × 100 = 64.7% by this method, compared with 58.8% if ties are treated as non-wins. The tool shows both whenever you enter ties so you can match your league’s convention.

Where it is used

Win percentage is the standard ranking figure in almost every competitive setting — sports team standings, esports and online-game win rates, chess and board-game records, and personal streaks. Because it is a share of all games rather than a raw ratio, it lets you compare records with different numbers of games played on an equal footing.
