The Click Speed Test, or CPS test, measures how many times you can click your mouse per second. Choose a window length, click as fast as you can until the clock runs out, and the tool reports your clicks per second along with your total clicks and your best score.
How clicks per second is measured
The timer only starts on your first click, so there is no wasted reaction time. From then on the tool counts every click inside the pad until the chosen window expires, then divides your total clicks by the number of seconds to give your CPS. While the test runs it also shows a live, running CPS estimate.
Choosing a test length
- 1 second — a burst test that rewards raw peak speed.
- 5 seconds — the most widely used CPS benchmark; a good all-round number.
- 10 to 60 seconds — endurance tests where consistency matters more than a single burst, since fatigue starts to pull your rate down.
Clicking techniques
Most people use regular clicking, which tops out around 6 to 8 CPS. Jitter clicking (tensing the arm to vibrate the finger) and butterfly clicking (alternating two fingers on one button) can produce much higher scores. Whichever you use, a responsive mouse and a stable hand position help you stay consistent.
