How do I work out my grocery cost per person?

Divide your total grocery budget by the number of people it feeds, then by seven for a daily figure and by the meals per day for a per-meal cost. This calculator does all of that at once, so you can immediately see whether your budget leaves a sensible amount for each meal or is stretched too thin.

See what your food budget really means

A weekly grocery number on its own is hard to judge. Broken down to the cost per person, per day and per meal, it suddenly becomes obvious whether a budget is comfortable or wishful thinking. This calculator takes the budget you already have in mind and translates it into every unit that matters, so you can sanity check it in seconds.

Every angle at once

Enter your budget, say how many people it feeds and how many meals a day you cater for, and the tool reports the per-person weekly, daily and per-meal cost side by side. It also converts your figure into monthly and yearly totals using a consistent 4.33 weeks per month, so you can line the grocery bill up against rent, subscriptions and other costs that are usually quoted over different periods.

Your numbers, nothing invented

This is a breakdown tool, not an estimator. It never assumes a national average or tells you what you ought to spend — every figure traces directly back to the budget and household you enter, and all the maths happens privately in your browser. That makes it a clean, honest reality check you can trust and adjust until the per-meal cost feels right for your family.
