This calculator turns Mesa, Arizona hours into weekly pay using the state minimum wage of $14.35 per hour. It separates regular and overtime hours, pays overtime at time-and-a-half, and checks tipped workers against the tip-credit rule.
How it works
Hours up to 40 are paid at the base rate; hours beyond 40 earn 1.5x:
regular hours = min(hours, 40)
overtime hours = max(hours - 40, 0)
regular pay = regular hours * rate
overtime pay = overtime hours * rate * 1.5
gross pay = regular pay + overtime pay
For tipped workers, the cash wage plus average hourly tips must reach the $14.35 minimum. Arizona caps the tip credit at $3.00/hr, so the cash wage cannot fall below $11.35.
Example
At the $14.35 minimum working 45 hours: regular pay is 40 * 14.35 = $574.00,
overtime is 5 * 14.35 * 1.5 = $107.63, for a gross of $681.63. A tipped
worker paid $11.35 cash needs at least $3.00/hr in tips to meet the minimum.
Notes
Results are gross pay before federal, FICA, and Arizona’s flat 2.5% state income tax. Overtime uses a weekly 40-hour threshold, not a daily one. The Arizona minimum is adjusted for inflation each January, so verify the current rate.
