Mississippi take-home pay calculator
Estimate your Mississippi net pay after taxes. Mississippi applies a single flat 4.40% state income tax rate in 2026, part of a multi-year phase-down. This tool combines it with the 2026 federal income-tax brackets and FICA to show your real monthly and annual take-home pay.
How it works
The calculator subtracts four things from your gross salary. Federal income
tax is charged on gross − standard deduction ($15,750 single, $31,500 married
filing jointly) using the 2026 progressive brackets, so only the slice of income
inside each band is taxed at that band’s rate. Mississippi state tax is a flat
4.40% applied to income after the same standard deduction. FICA adds
Social Security at 6.2% up to the $176,100 wage base, plus Medicare at
1.45% on all wages. Net pay is gross minus all four.
Example
A single Mississippi worker earning $75,000: taxable income is $75,000 − $15,750 = $59,250. Federal tax across the 10%, 12% and 22% bands is about $7,747. Mississippi state tax is 4.40% of $59,250 = $2,607. Social Security is $4,650 and Medicare is $1,088. Total tax is roughly $16,092, leaving take-home pay near $58,909 a year, about $4,909/month, an effective rate of about 21.5%.
Notes
Estimate only — not financial or tax advice. Figures use 2026 IRS federal brackets, the federal standard deduction, the Mississippi Department of Revenue’s 4.40% flat rate and 2026 FICA limits. Pre-tax retirement contributions, itemized deductions, credits and other adjustments are not modelled. All math runs in your browser.
