A wizard’s name should sound like it was carried out of a dusty tome of forgotten spells. This generator fuses Latin and Greek roots with mystical syllables to produce archmages, witches, and hedge-wizards, each with an optional arcane title.
How it works
The generator keeps prefix, infix, and suffix roots leaning on archaic Latin and Greek (think Mor, astra, eus), weighted by the tradition you select. For each name it stitches two or three roots together, capitalises the result, and — when titles are enabled — appends a tradition-weighted honorific. A Fisher–Yates shuffle keeps repeated batches fresh, and the witch tradition pulls in softer, nature-rooted fragments.
Tips and example
- An archmage might emerge as
Mordecaeus, Archmage of the Seventh Tower; a witch asSelenastra the Hollow-Wood; a hedge-wizard asOld Berrin the Curious. - Pair a grand name with a modest title (or the reverse) for characters who are not what they seem.
- Generate with titles off to collect raw names, then assign your own order, school, or tower for flavour.
