Pinterest accepts video from a 4-second floor to a 15-minute ceiling, but each format has its own limits and a much narrower range that actually performs. This tool checks a duration against every Pinterest video format and flags exactly which ones it qualifies for.
How it works
Each Pinterest video format has a minimum and maximum duration in seconds. The tool compares your video length to each one and marks it pass or fail:
standard video Pin = 4 s … 900 s (15 min)
idea pin segment = 1 s … 60 s
video ad = 4 s … 900 s
optimal range = 6 s … 15 s (best for discovery)
A format passes when min ≤ duration ≤ max. The optimal range is highlighted
separately because clearing the limits is not the same as performing well.
Tips and example
A 45-second clip qualifies as a standard video Pin and an Idea Pin segment but sits above the 6-to-15-second discovery sweet spot, so consider trimming it for feed reach or keeping the full length only if it is a tutorial. A 90-second clip clears the standard Pin and ad limits but is too long for a single Idea Pin segment and must be split. When in doubt, aim for a short, loopable cut around 8 to 12 seconds for the best balance of reach and watch time.
