Ukrainian Number to Words

Integers to Ukrainian words with gender (один/одна/одне)

Converts whole numbers to Ukrainian cardinal words with three-gender agreement on один/одна/одне and дві, the correct 1-2-5 endings on тисяча/мільйон, and Ukrainian teen forms that differ from Russian. Runs in your browser.

Why does the gender of the noun matter?

In Ukrainian the numerals 1 and 2 inflect for gender: один/одна/одне and два/дві. The word that follows must agree, so picking the noun's gender gives the grammatically correct form, for example два столи (m) but дві книги (f).

The Ukrainian Number to Words tool spells any whole number in Ukrainian, handling the parts that trip people up: the three-gender agreement on один/одна/одне and два/дві, the 1-2-5 endings on scale nouns, and the teen forms that differ from their Russian look-alikes.

How it works

The number is split into groups of three digits from the right (units, thousands, millions, billions). Each group of 0–999 is spelled independently using tables of hundreds (сто, двісті, триста…), tens (двадцять, тридцять…), and teens (одинадцять, дванадцять…). The units 1 and 2 take the gender you select. After each non-unit group the tool appends the scale word in the form chosen by the 1-2-5 paucal rule: тисяча for numbers ending in 1 (but not 11), тисячі for 2–4 endings, and тисяч otherwise. The thousands group is always rendered feminine because тисяча is a feminine noun.

Notes and example

  • 2025 with masculine gender gives дві тисячі двадцять п'ять.
  • Neuter “one” in Ukrainian is одне, not одно — a common point of confusion for Russian speakers learning Ukrainian.
  • Choose feminine for nouns like гривня or книга so you get одна, дві; choose masculine for стіл, рік to get один, два.
  • Spaces inside the input are ignored, so you can paste a thousands-grouped figure like 1 234 567 directly.
