How long will a Ukrainian article or script take to read? This estimator counts the words and divides by a reading rate tuned for Ukrainian, giving you a realistic time in minutes and seconds that you can adjust for silent reading, reading aloud, or skimming.
How it works
Reading time is a simple ratio:
minutes = word count / words-per-minute
The default rate is 180 words per minute, a conservative silent-reading average for Ukrainian. Because Ukrainian words are longer on average than English words, a per-word rate lower than the common English figure of around 250 gives a more accurate estimate. The tool counts words as runs of Cyrillic letters (plus apostrophes and hyphens) and standalone numbers, then converts the result into whole minutes and seconds.
Example
A 540-word Ukrainian text at 180 words per minute:
540 / 180 = 3.0 minutes = 3 min 0 sec
The same text at a slower read-aloud rate of 135 words per minute takes about 4 minutes.
Notes
Adjust the words-per-minute field to fit the situation: lower it to 120–150 for presentations or audio narration, raise it toward 200+ for experienced readers skimming. All calculation happens locally in your browser, so the text stays private.
