How is gold per hour calculated?

Each method has a baseline hourly rate measured at a reference gear tier. The tool multiplies that rate by your gear multiplier, then multiplies by your session hours to project a total. Faster, safer clears with better gear mean more loot collected per hour.

Old School RuneScape has dozens of money-making methods, and the best one for you depends on how much time you have and how strong your account is. This tool ranks common gold-farming routes by their realistic gold per hour and projects how much currency you would bank over your session.

How it works

Every method carries a baseline hourly gold rate measured at a reference gear tier. Your chosen gear level applies a throughput multiplier, because faster, safer clears mean more loot per hour:

effective per hour = base rate per hour × gear multiplier
session total = effective per hour × session hours

The routes are then sorted from highest to lowest effective rate so the most efficient option for your setup sits at the top.

Example and tips

A player with a 3-hour session and enchanted-tier gear sees every baseline rate lifted by the enchanted multiplier, then projected across 3 hours. The top route is usually the highest-throughput method your account can sustain. Remember that the headline rate assumes you keep clicking efficiently — AFK methods earn less per hour but free your attention, which can be worth more if you are doing other things. Always check live Grand Exchange prices before committing to a route, as a single market move can reshuffle the ranking.
