The Simplified to Traditional Chinese Converter rewrites mainland Simplified text into the Traditional characters used in Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau. Paste a sentence and watch each differing character switch to its Traditional form while everything else stays in place — useful for localisation, subtitles, study and cross-strait correspondence.
How it works
The converter holds an embedded mapping table derived from the open-source OpenCC project. It walks through your text one character at a time: if the character appears in the Simplified-to-Traditional table, it is replaced by the listed Traditional equivalent; otherwise it is left unchanged. Because the great majority of characters are shared between the two scripts, only the few hundred that genuinely differ are touched, and the tool reports how many substitutions it made.
Notes and limitations
This is a character-level conversion, which is the right granularity for most everyday text. It does not apply phrase-level regional vocabulary rules — for example the software term written 软件 in the mainland becomes 軟件 here, even though Taiwan writers often prefer 軟體. A handful of Simplified characters also correspond to more than one Traditional character depending on meaning, such as 发 mapping to either 發 (to send) or 髮 (hair); this tool uses the most common mapping, so review ambiguous words by context for publication-grade results. All processing happens locally in your browser, so your text is never uploaded and the tool works offline once the page has loaded.
